In our designs we extensively use wood. Wood is a phenomenal material – natural, organic, environmentally-friendly and with a maximum benefit to our health. Numerous studies, as well as centuries of practical experience, have taught us that living in a predominantly wooden house results in better mood, much better sleep, and increased quality of life.
02
Environmentally friendly
We, as manufacturers, builders and end-users try to treat our immediate surroundings with care and respect. We fit our designs harmoniously in the landscape, we use only natural materials and as little energy as possible to build them. We estimate that one of our houses uses two to three times less energy for heating than the still wide-spread brick-and-concrete structures of the same size.
03
Energy-efficient.
The good thermal insulation, the use of wooden window frames and structural elements, the triple glass windows, the ventilated roof and walls and the complete absence in thermal bridges in the design bring about keeping the heat from flowing out in cold weather and keep the interior cool in hot summers, reducing the need for heating and cooling.
Our houses are equipped with heat pumps for heating, cooling, and hot water as a standard solution and in combination with floor heating or convectors. Solar panels can also be installed and connected to the system.
04
Increased structural and seismic stability
We design our houses with low center of gravity using massive foundation slab or rigid reinforced concrete lower floor, as well as lighter upper floors and roof. The structural elements – floors, walls, and roof, form a spatial net of tightly knit together load-bearing micro-beams and columns. This design offers outstanding structural and seismic performance, far exceeding that of any other conventional structure – metal, wood, or concrete. This design provides the perfect solution for seismic regions.
05
Fire-safe construction.
Modern technologies allow wood-based structural solutions that are as safe as the traditional brick-and-cement structures. The mineral wool used as insulation is 100% non-flammable. We use only non-flammable materials for all insulations as well as predominantly non-flammable materials for interior finishes.
For additional fire-safety we install double layer of fire-rated gypsum board and special fire-rated insulated chimneys.
We also install active lightning-protection rods on the roofs and smoke detectors in all premises.
06
Controlled micro-climate – temperature and humidity.
The complete absence of thermal bridges in our designs and the natural thermal neutrality of wood allow to easily maintain the proper temperature desired. The properties of wood and mineral wool do not allow for excessive build-up of humidity and harmful moisture. As the construction is mostly dry, there is no residual humidity and fungi inside the house.
07
Relaxing sound environment.
Wooden elements in the structure and interior absorb sounds and noises, resulting in a much quieter environment, perfect for sleep and relaxation or listening to acoustical music.
08
Protection from humidity, rot, fungus, and insects.
All underground constructions are made of solid in-situ concrete. Basements, crawl space and ground floors are adequately ventilated. We only use breathing materials for hydro- and thermal insulation – the appropriate moisture and vapor barriers and various grades of mineral wool. We strongly recommend the choice of a ventilated natural wood factory-installed façade for the upper floors. All wood we use has been treated against fungi and insects.
09
Low maintenance cost.
Wood- and stone-clad houses require little maintenance save for the occasional oiling or façade painting of exterior wooden surfaces.
